In a significant push towards sustainable manufacturing, Tata Motors has inked a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL) to jointly develop a 131 MW wind-solar hybrid renewable energy project. TPREL is a subsidiary of Tata Power. This ambitious project will supply green energy to Tata Motors six manufacturing plants located in Maharashtra and Gujarat, supporting the production of both commercial and passenger vehicles. The hybrid facility is projected to generate an impressive 300 million units of clean electricity annually. According to estimates, this green energy initiative is expected to offset over 2 lakh tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions every year, making a substantial contribution to Tata Motors environmental sustainability goals. Vishal Badshah, Vice President – Operations, Commercial Vehicles, Tata Motors, emphasized the companys commitment to clean energy. As a key driver of India’s mobility and logistics ecosystem, Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles is proud to lead by example in sustainable manufacturing, he stated. This project reinforces our commitment to integrate renewable energy into our operations and reduce our carbon footprint while meeting our RE-100 goals. It also reflects our broader purpose of delivering mobility solutions that are sustainable at every stage—from production to performance. This collaboration marks a significant step for Tata Motors in its journey towards achieving its RE-100 targets and underscores the growing adoption of hybrid renewable energy solutions by major industrial players in India. |
