The Río Negro government is moving forward with preparations to tender a set of strategic projects to be financed with a USD 140 million international loan from the Andean Development Corporation (CAF) . These projects will involve critical areas such as drinking water, sanitation, road connectivity, and municipal infrastructure , with a significant impact on the populations quality of life and regional development. The schedule was defined this week in a meeting led by the Minister of Public Works and Services, Alejandro Echarren , and the Minister of Finance, Gabriel Sánchez , along with representatives of the Provincial Unit for the Coordination and Execution of External Financing (UPCEFE) , Aguas Rionegrinas , Vialidad Rionegrina and the Provincial Water Department . There it was agreed that most of the works will be put out to tender during the first half of 2025 and the beginning of the second , once the drafting and review of the technical specifications have been completed. The works were designed to replace projects originally planned for national funding , which were left without budgetary support under the new federal distribution scheme. Faced with this situation, the province turned to this international loan to guarantee their execution . Main projects included in the CAF program Water intake at Lake Gutiérrez (San Carlos de Bariloche). Drinking Water Master Plans for Dina Huapi, San Antonio Oeste and General Roca . Pipe replacement in Sierra Grande . New Water Treatment Plant in Cipolletti . Sewer Master Plans in El Bolsón and Río Colorado . In terms of road infrastructure, the following are contemplated: Repaving of the access roads to the Bariloche and Viedma airports . Construction of a double track in Cipolletti . Improvements in social and urban infrastructure are also planned: Refurbishment of the Viedma Municipal Cultural Center . Development of a logistics and energy hub in Sierra Grande , which includes the construction of a new hospital and a technical school . According to Minister Echarren, all of these projects are in high demand by the public and represent a concrete response to long-delayed structural needs , which can now be realized thanks to the coordination between the provincial government and multilateral lending agencies. |
