Tamil Nadu is preparing to roll out more than 50 major infrastructure projects valued at over ?45,000 crore, with bids expected to be issued over the next 1-2 years. These projects span a range of sectors, including the development of a greenfield airport at Parandur, two pumped storage projects, and a thermal power plant near Chennai. The projects will primarily be executed under the public-private partnership (PPP) model, sources confirmed. Other key initiatives include transmission projects, 24X7 water supply systems, a desalination plant, industrial infrastructure, and a waste-to-energy project. While the larger projects are expected to take 5-6 years for completion, smaller-scale projects will be completed within two years. Among the most significant PPP ventures is the Parandur airport project, for which the Centre has granted in-principal approval. The project, with an estimated cost of ?20,000 crore, is currently preparing for its bidding process. |
