Work Detail GE Vernova announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Iraq’s Ministry of Electricity to chart pathways for adding 24 Gigawatts (GW) through advanced Gas Turbines, including the record-breaking H-class. The signing event in Baghdad was held under the patronage of H.E. Muhammad Shia’ Al-Sudani, Prime Minister of Iraq. The agreement – described as the largest in Iraq’s history by the Prime Minister’s Office – was signed by H.E. Zeyad Ali Fadhil, Iraqi Minister of Electricity, and George Pickart, Managing Director, Global Government Affairs & Policy at GE Vernova. It took place during a historic US trade mission to Iraq, organized by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s US-Iraq Business Council, with the aim of strengthening ties between the two countries. The company stated that, Our legacy in Iraq spans nearly 6 decades, during which we’ve significantly transformed the nation’s Energy Infrastructure. Over the last 15 years, we’ve added 19 GW and continue to service and modernize over 10 GW of capacity. Our achievements include building and energizing over 30 substations, supporting the interconnection between Iraq and Jordan’s grids, and mobilizing more than $3 billion in financing.We are proud of our projects that bolster the local economy and empower Iraqi talent with essential skills and expertise.
