It will be carried out in four stages of 10 stations each, starting in Havana, the countrys capital, where the majority of the nearly 50,000 units in circulation are said to be located. The state-owned corporation Cimex will install 40 solar-powered electric vehicle charging stations, according to its vice president of logistics, Armando Ananias, during the International Transportation and Logistics Fair (FITL 2025), held at the Havana Convention Center. According to the official publication of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Ananias said that the projects first charging station will be built in Havana, where, according to data from the Ministry of Transportation, the majority of electric vehicles (49,605) circulating in the country are located, although a group of new additions are not registered, it added. The station is estimated to be operational in the second half of this year. In the first phase, the report states, ten stations will be built, each with a surface area of ??500 square meters, generating 600 kWh of energy daily and with 122 kWh of storage capacity to operate two electric charging stations. The project would encompass four stages with 40 stations, with 2,000 square meters of solar panel surface, 24,000 kWh of daily energy generation, and 8,000 kWh of storage, which would allow charging a total of 800 vehicles daily, including medium- and large-sized vehicles, it added. Cimexs vice president of logistics stated that the stations will have a capacity for 32 vehicles under the solar panels, with the goal of reaching an 80% charge in about 15 minutes. |
