Iberdrola and Ocean Winds contract signing delayed to summer Massachusetts has again delayed the finalisation of offtake contracts with two offshore wind developers. Signing of offtake contracts between the state, Ocean Winds 1.3GW SouthCoast Wind, and Iberdrolas 791MW New England 1 had previously been delayed until 31 March, and are now again delayed until 30 June. The developers and the states Department of Public Utilities have not yet completed their contract negotiations, according to a 31 March letter from the evaluation team negotiating the contracts. While the completion of negotiations and execution of contracts is now expected, the evaluation team is targeting the filing of the contracts with the Department of Public Utilities by 25 August. SouthCoast Wind and New England Wind 1 were both selected for offtake contracts in a September 2024 multistate offshore solicitation. Massachusetts has signalled its intent to purchase 1,087MW of SouthCoast Wind, with Rhode Island picking up the final 200MW. |
