Work Detail Large units running smoothly at 200MW Chinese wind farm, company says Sany Renewable Energy has reported strong performance from its 10MW onshore turbines at the Huadian Ning’an Fengshuishan wind farm in China. With a total installed capacity of 200MW, the wind farm is the first in China that has mass-deployed 10MW turbines. The wind farm operates 20 Sany 10MW turbines, each featuring a 230-metre rotor diameter. A spokesperson for Sany said the turbines had achieved a new milestone with 60 consecutive days of “flawless operation”. During the “low-wind season” with monthly average wind speeds of only 5-6 m/s, each turbine could still generate up to 2.2m kWh per month, the company said. The wind farm is the first Sany project deploying self-developed hybrid towers. The company said it had implemented a full life-cycle quality management system for hybrid towers, which incorporates high-precision horizontal mould-casting processes and standardised manufacturing protocols. In 2024, the company’s self-developed 140-metre hybrid towers for 10MW turbines obtained TÜV Nord international certification in Germany. Sany created China’s first 10MW onshore wind turbine prototype in February 2023. To date, the inaugural 10MW prototype has completed over 600 days of grid-connected operational validation at its test wind farm, undergoing more than 1000 performance tests, the company said.
