The Government of Córdoba announced a call for bids to complete National Highway Route 19, a key section connecting the cities of San Francisco and Córdoba. The project, originally a national project, will be financed by the province with an investment of 167 billion pesos and a completion period of 18 months, generating approximately 800 direct and indirect jobs. The project includes the construction of two sections: Arroyito-Santiago Temple and San Francisco-Cañada Jeanmaire, totaling 62.9 kilometers. To facilitate execution, the project will be tendered in three sections and includes the construction of four interchanges in Devoto, Colonia Marina, Tránsito, and Los Chañaritos; six multi-level return routes; two 150-meter bridges over the Xanaes River; as well as shoulders, collectors, drainage, lighting, signage, and landscaping. Governor Martín Llaryora highlighted the strategic importance of the highway for the province, the country, and Mercosur, emphasizing its impact on road safety. We are going to put an end to the road of death by transforming it into the road of life and progress, he stated. He also emphasized that this infrastructure will consolidate Córdobas position as one of the provinces with the best road network in Argentina and South America. The highway will have two lanes in each direction, full access control and collector roads, and a maximum speed limit of 130 kilometers per hour. Its completion will strengthen the Atlantic-Pacific bi-oceanic corridor, a key route for international trade, used by more than 3 million vehicles annually. The Minister of Infrastructure and Public Services, Fabián López, emphasized that the project was halted in 2019 after commitments made in 2016. He also highlighted the investments the province has made in road infrastructure, such as the Río Cuarto and Villa María bypasses, the new Altas Cumbres road, and the Punilla and Calamuchita highways. For his part, the mayor of Córdoba, Daniel Passerini, highlighted the importance of the highway in regional integration and its impact on economic development. It is a fundamental and strategic project that connects five departments of the province and links us with the Central Region and Mercosur, he stated. With this decision, Córdoba takes on the challenge of completing an essential infrastructure for productive and logistical growth, ensuring a safer and more efficient connection between the main towns in the province and the country. |
