The Metropolitan Public Consortium for the Integrated Management of Urban Solid Waste (Girsu) has launched a call for public tenders for the operation of the San Felipe transfer plant and the final disposal plant in Overo Pozo. With an official budget of $81 billion, the process seeks to renew all current contracts, which expire next April. The terms and conditions, available from Tuesday, February 25 at the Consortiums administrative office, located at Italia 2,800, San Miguel de Tucumán, have a cost of $20 million. Offers may be submitted until March 7 at 10:00, and the envelopes will be opened that same day at 12:00. The services included in the tender include the operation of the San Felipe transfer plant, the transportation of Urban Solid Waste (MSW) from the plant to Overo Pozo and the final disposal in a sanitary landfill. According to Eugenia Andrade, president of Girsu, this is the first time that a public tender has been issued for these services, in response to the new municipal administrations desire to guarantee a transparent and open process. Currently, the company Moviser SRL is in charge of most of the operations at the waste separation and classification plant, which receives waste from six municipalities that are part of the Consortium: Alderetes, Banda del Río Salí, San Miguel de Tucumán, Las Talitas, Tafí Viejo and Yerba Buena. In addition, the transfer of waste from Tafí del Valle and El Mollar to San Felipe and then to Overo Pozo was recently incorporated. Last month, Moviser SRL had claimed a debt of almost $1.9 billion, which was denied by the Consortium Management. Andrade clarified that the decision to open the tender does not respond to this situation, but to an initiative agreed upon in an assembly by the mayors of the member municipalities, who assumed office in October 2023 and expressed their intention to implement a bidding process for the contracting of services. Those interested in participating in the tender can obtain more information at the Girsu administrative office or via email at jeruizf@yahoo.com.ar starting Tuesday, February 25.
