| Work Detail | Consumption of petroleum products was reported increased by 21 percent in the first two months of fiscal year 2016-17 taking the total consumed to 44 lac tonne. In August, consumption of petroleum products increased by 20 percent. During the time period, 9.75 lac tonne furnace oil was used, 5.43 lac tonne petrol and 6.42 lac tonne high-speed diesel was consumed across the country. In the same period of last financial year, a total of 36 lac tonne petroleum products were used. Analysts have said that increase in imports of furnace oil in summers have raised the consumption of petroleum products. |
