Work Detail SunSource Energy, a leading solar energy solutions provider and a subsidiary of SHV Energy, has announced the commissioning of a 21 MWp solar power plant in Ramanathapuram, Tamil Nadu. This marks the company’s first venture in the state, reinforcing its commitment to advancing India’s clean energy sector. The newly commissioned solar power plant spans 50 acres and is fully tied up with leading Commercial & Industrial (C&I) businesses. These partnerships include prominent names from the Oil and Gas, Automotive, Metals and Mining, and Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sectors. The project is expected to generate approximately 760 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of clean energy over its technical lifetime, potentially offsetting up to 700 million kilograms of CO2 emissions—equivalent to planting around 700,000 trees. Santanu Guha, CEO of SunSource Energy, expressed satisfaction with the company’s expansion into Tamil Nadu. “We are pleased to commission our first plant in Tamil Nadu, one of the leading states for renewable energy in India. With Tamil Nadu playing host to various industries including Automobile, IT & ITES, Textiles, Manufacturing, etc., this project is just the beginning for us in the state. We foresee planning several new projects for C&I customers and helping them in their energy transition journey,” Guha said. For over 14 years, SunSource Energy has been supporting C&I customers in their energy transition efforts, helping them reduce energy costs. The company’s portfolio includes 500 MWp of solar assets deployed, contracted, or under development across major states in India. Ajay Sanghi, CEO of SUPERGAS, highlighted the impact of their partnership with SunSource Energy on sustainability and cost efficiency. “By partnering with SunSource Energy to procure solar power for our Tuticorin Terminal, we not only reduce carbon emissions at the terminal but equally as important, increase cost efficiencies. This ensures we can continue to provide affordable cleaner energy access to consumers and businesses and help drive the energy transition,” Sanghi said. SunSource Energy’s solar solutions cater to a diverse range of industry verticals, including Data Centers, Consumer Goods, Metals and Mining, Automotive, Chemical, Cement, Healthcare, and Pharmaceuticals, further cementing its role in India’s renewable energy landscape.
