Work Detail Martin Helweg is stepping down as chief executive of P&O Maritime Logistics, a unit of Dubai-based ports and logistics giant DP World. “After some incredible years as CEO at P&O Maritime Logistics, it is time for me to step aside and move towards new opportunities,” Helweg said in a LinkedIn post on Tuesday. “My time in P&O has been filled with numerous highlights, and I am particularly proud of our team’s resilience. Despite the challenges in the world and our industry, we have consistently delivered beyond expectations, surpassing our targets every year without fail,” he added. Before joining P&O, Helweg spent over 15 years working for towage giant Svitzer in regional CFO and CEO roles across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. P&O Maritime Logistics was established following DP World’s acquisition of OSV operator Topaz Energy and Marine in 2019. Martin moved into the CEO role in March 2020 after three years in charge of P&O’s global operations. The company today operates a diversified offshore fleet as well as bulkers, tankers and heavylift vessels. Sources tell Splash that P&O’s chief of finance, Prasad Narayan, will take over as the new head of the company. Earlier this month, another top executive left one of the DP World-controlled businesses. Jesper Kristensen stepped down as CEO of feeder operator Unifeeder, a position he has held since 2007. He also resigned as chief operating officer of DP World Marine Services.
