The first phase, inaugurated in late April, comprises 14,640 solar panels generating 8MW. The second phase of the project will include the expansion of the solar energy farm by 6MW and the construction of a 19-turbine wind farm with a capacity of 16MW,
Located in the city of Taolagnaro, also known as Fort-Dauphin, the solar park will be used by QIT Madagascar Minerals (QNN) to decarbonise the operations of its ilmenite mine.
Malagasy President Andry Rajoelina, said: "Madagascar aspires to be a model of resilience in the face of climate challenges, particularly in the industrial sector." |
