Work Detail Chinese car maker Great Wall Motors plans to build a big electric vehicle plant in Hungary, media there have been speculating. They believe it will time the announcement to coincide with a visit by President Xi Jinping to the southwestern city of Pecs between 8-10 May. According to Hungary Today, Hungarian media have been speculating that Xi would announce the factory himself. The plant is expected to be sited on a 600ha industrial zone in the village of Bicsérd, about 5km west of Pecs. Hebei-based Great Wall Motors is currently the eighth largest Chinese automaker, with 1.3 million units sold in 2021. It has three bases in China, and recently bought factories from General Motors in Rayong, Thailand, and Talegaon, India. The plant would be its first in Europe, and is expected to produce its Ora Funky Cat hatchback model, and a premium saloon called Wey.
