Work Detail Norwegian offshore service provider Archer has been awarded a two-year contract extension for platform drilling services in the UK by an unnamed client. The estimated contract of the extension is $40m. The deal will begin on May 1, 2024, in direct continuation of the current contract. Over the next two years, Archer will continue to deliver drilling operations, maintenance, and rig reactivation services for the customer. “This extension is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our personnel who have been longstanding in support of both assets. We firmly believe this extension is a result of Archer’s continual commitment to providing our clients with solutions to improve well delivery, integrity and performance,” said Alexander Olsson, EVP of platform operations at Archer. Last month, Archer won an extension from Equinor together with KCA Deutag and Odfjell Technology. The initial contracts with the trio were signed in 2018 with three option periods of two years. The first two-year option was exercised in 2022. Equinor said that the options for drilling services on fixed installations on the Norwegian Continental Shelf will provide jobs for 2,000 people per year, and have an estimated value of NOK 18.4bn ($1.67bn).
