Work Detail Norway-based Seaonics has been chosen to deliver 3D Electric Controlled Motion Compensated (ECMC) cranes to the German shipowner Windward Offshore. The cranes are set for installation of Windward Offshore’s two commissioning service operation vessels (CSOVs). The 87.5-metre vessels will be delivered by VARD under a contract signed with Windward Offshore, a company founded by Blue Star Group, Diana Shipping Inc., and SeraVerse, in collaboration with and under the leadership of SeaRenergy Offshore, in January 2024. The Seaonics ECMC C25 3D crane is designed for offshore operations. It features a fully electrically controlled motion compensation system. The boom, slew, and telescope control are all electric-driven and dynamically used to perform the 3D compensation of the crane tip. “We are pleased to announce our partnership with SEAONICS delivering cutting-edge 3D compensated fully electric cranes for our CSOVs. Equipping two of our vessels with these advanced seven-ton cranes will give our charterers great advantages in the daily operations in their offshore projects,” said Benjamin Vordemfelde, Managing Director of Windward Offshore. The vessels, which will have accommodation for 120 persons on board, are prepared to operate on green methanol and are equipped with a hybrid battery system. The first vessel is scheduled for delivery in the second half of 2025, while the remaining vessels to follow in the course of 2026. In terms of other news coming from Seaonics, the company recently won a contract to deliver a stand-alone ECMC 7-tonne 3D crane to Norwind Offshore.
