10-year deal covers power from wind farm in German North Sea
Ensinger has signed a PPA with RWE for the developer’s 342MW Kaskasi offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.
The deal covers output from the array, which supplies almost 30 gigawatt hours a year.
In future, almost half of the annual electricity requirements of the plastics manufacturer based in Nufringen, Baden-Württemberg, will be covered by energy from wind power.
The PPA runs for 10 years and includes a schedule delivery according to the wind farm.
“We want to achieve our climate goals using credible means,” said Ensinger Groups head of sustainability Klaus Ensinger.
“That’s why it was important to us that the delivery in was a direct purchase from a newly installed renewable energy system.”
The company’s head of technical management Andreas Alsfasser added: “The fact that RWE makes it possible to generate wind power at a relatively constant rate is very attractive for us. We also liked the innovations being tested at Kaskasi wind farm, such as rotor blades made from recyclable material.” |
