It proposes more than 80 actions to boost the industry. It also foresees that by 2050 there will be a 16% participation of the fluid in the generation of electricity from source.
The Chilean Ministry of Energy has published today the so-called Green Hydrogen Action Plan 2023-2030, which proposes 81 actions, “distributed into 18 lines of work, with short and medium-term milestones that will allow the deployment of the industry of green hydrogen and its derivatives,” as highlighted in a statement.
The information abounds that the document arises “after a year of participatory work and the collaboration of a Transversal Strategic Committee.”
It is described that the proposed measures will be implemented in two stages. The first, between 2023 and 2026, “will explore establishing the conditions that allow the development of the industry by defining environmental, social and labor standards, in addition to having an efficient permit system, promoting scientific research around the industry and advancing tax and financial incentives”.
The second will cover from 2026 to 2030, in which it is considered “having the instruments of territorial planning, regulations, local development, citizen participation and preparation of human capital to carry out the development of green hydrogen.”
In a paragraph of the document it can be read that by 2050 “the countrys energy consumption will substantially change its shape.” “The most relevant change,” it is added, “is in the reduction of fossil fuel consumption, and driven mainly by greater penetration of the electrification of consumption, going from 22% to a range between 42% and 46% by 2050 (depending on the scenario) and the incorporation of green hydrogen and derivatives, in a range between 16 and 17% of national energy consumption.” |
