Work Detail Unilever Costa Rica, a subsidiary of the multinational corporation specializing in food, personal hygiene, and cleaning products, announces plans to install a 1.36 MMW solar system at its Belén plant in the province of Heredia, Central America. This initiative, facilitated through a comprehensive energy services agreement with distributor Compañía Nacional de Fuerza y Luz (CNFL) and supported by Enertiva, marks a significant step towards sustainable energy utilization. Covering an area of 6,100 square meters, the project is presented as one of the largest of its kind in the country, aiming to deploy solar panels across both roof and ground surfaces. Luis González, Manager of the Unilever Costa Rica Nutrition Factory, emphasizes the objective of achieving emission-free production processes and a 100% renewable energy supply, positioning the Belén plant as the first of its kind within the Unilever global network. Alejandro Brenes, Manager of Enertiva, lauds the project as a success story of a public-private alliance. He highlights the collaboration between Unilever, CNFL, and Enertiva as a model of innovation, contributing not only to environmental sustainability but also to job creation and economic development. The initiative reflects Unilever’s commitment to environmental stewardship and underscores the company’s efforts to transition towards renewable energy sources.
