Work Detail Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) made a significant impact at the World Future Energy Summit 2024, held from April 16 to 18 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center. The event, hosted by Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar), attracted numerous VIPs, officials, and participants, all of whom lauded DEWA’s groundbreaking projects, particularly in the renewable and clean energy sector. Among the distinguished visitors to DEWA’s stand was HH Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes’ Affairs. His Highness received a comprehensive briefing on DEWA’s flagship renewable and clean energy initiatives, notably the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. This park stands as the world’s largest single-site solar park, operating under the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model, with an ambitious production capacity target of 5,000MW by 2030, representing an investment exceeding AED 50 billion. A notable delegation from South Korea, led by HE Yoo Jehseung, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the UAE, also visited DEWA’s stand. They were apprised of DEWA’s pioneering projects, including the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park and the groundbreaking Green Hydrogen project. This innovative endeavor marks the first of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa region, producing hydrogen using solar energy. The Korean delegation also learned about the Al Shera’a Building, DEWA’s forthcoming headquarters, poised to become the world’s tallest, largest, and smartest government Zero Energy Building. DEWA’s participation in the World Future Energy Summit showcased cutting-edge technologies, including photovoltaic solar panels and Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) technologies featured in the fourth phase of the solar park. Notably, this phase boasts the world’s tallest CSP tower, standing over 263 meters, and the largest thermal energy storage capacity, earning recognition from Guinness World Records. The focus extended to the sixth phase of the solar park, a collaborative effort between DEWA and Masdar, leveraging state-of-the-art solar photovoltaic bifacial technologies. This phase aims to increase the park’s total production capacity to 4,660MW by 2026. DEWA’s stand also spotlighted its ambitious desalination project in Hassyan, featuring the world’s largest seawater reverse osmosis (RO) desalination plant, and the Green Charger initiative for electric vehicles, comprising nearly 390 charging stations across Dubai. Furthermore, visitors gained insights into DEWA’s Innovation Centre at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, which serves as a hub for fostering innovation and developing the capabilities of future innovators. Dr. Hesham Ismail, Senior Manager at DEWA, participated in panel discussions, notably the Green Hydrogen Summit, underscoring DEWA’s commitment to pioneering sustainable energy solutions and shaping the future of energy.
