The report Main Indicators of the Electricity Sector at the National Level, released by the Ministry of Energy and Mines of Peru (MINEM), shows that the production of electrical energy from photovoltaics covered 2%, with 85 GWh, which represents 56% more than the value recorded in February 2023.
The total production of electrical energy in the country, including isolated systems, was 5,216 GWh, 8% higher than in February of last year.
Of this accumulated total, the Peruvian electricity market absorbed 97% (5,062 GWh), while the remaining 3% (154 GWh) was in charge of industrial companies (mining, sugar, oil, etc.) for their own use. activity.
The leading technology in electricity production is hydraulics, with 60% (3,135 GWh); followed by thermal sources, 34% (1,763 GWh); wind, 4% (234 GWh) and the already mentioned photovoltaic, 2% (85 GWh).
From the analysis of the data provided by the MINEM, it is also highlighted that the majority of photovoltaic sources in Peru are located in the southern region of the country, where 84 GWh were generated, with 0.2 GWh in the center, just 0.03 GWh in the north, and without presence in the eastern region.
Another relevant fact is that although there are 11 solar projects in development, only one of those mentioned is under construction, Matarani, of 80 MW (97 MWp), in Arequipa , which is reportedly at 6% of Advance. |
