Unilever Costa Rica, a subsidiary in the Central American country of the multinational dedicated to food, personal hygiene and cleaning products, will install a 1.36 MMW solar system on the roofs and grounds of its Belén plant, located in the province of Heredia, a based on a comprehensive energy services agreement with the distributor Compañía Nacional de Fuerza y ??Luz (CNFL) and with the support of Enertiva.
In a statement, it is stated that the project, presented as one of the largest of its kind in the country, will deploy solar panels on 6,100 m2.
The objective, says the manager of the Unilever Costa Rica Nutrition Factory, Luis González, is to be “the first Unilever plant globally with emission-free production processes and a 100% renewable energy supply.”
For his part, Alejandro Brenes, manager of Enertiva, a company that develops distributed generation in Central America, assured: “This is a success story of a public-private alliance, between Unilever, CNFL and Enertiva under the umbrella of an innovative model where “We make a significant investment that contributes to generating employment and sustainability.” |
