Work Detail Masdar, a leading clean energy firm in the UAE, celebrated the conclusion of a highly productive Green Hydrogen Summit aimed at propelling the advancement of the global green hydrogen economy and bolstering the energy transition. Themed “Building the Hydrogen Economy: From Dialogue to Reality,” the summit brought together a distinguished lineup of stakeholders, including ministerial speakers from the UAE, Azerbaijan, Japan, and the Netherlands, along with policymakers, industry leaders, investors, and entrepreneurs. Former UK Prime Minister, the Rt Hon Boris Johnson, lauded the UAE as a hub of technological innovation and highlighted the enduring collaboration between the United Kingdom and the UAE in renewable energy endeavors, particularly in green hydrogen projects. Johnson also praised HE Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, Chairman of Masdar, and President of COP28, for his pivotal role in delivering the UAE Consensus at COP28. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Bertrand Piccard, Chairman of Climate Impulse, emphasized the significance of the Green Hydrogen Summit and lauded Masdar’s efforts in advancing the development of green hydrogen. The summit facilitated insightful discussions among global hydrogen players on various crucial topics, including the role of hydrogen in different regions, its potential applications in industries like steel and transportation, and strategies to enhance project viability. Ministers from Azerbaijan, Japan, and the Netherlands outlined their respective national strategies and policies to accelerate green hydrogen economies. Highlighted during the summit was Abu Dhabi’s low-carbon hydrogen policy, which aims to attract innovators, technology providers, and key players in the green hydrogen sector. Masdar showcased its commitment to kick-starting cost-effective, technology-driven green hydrogen projects worldwide. Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, Chief Executive Officer of Masdar, expressed optimism about the immense potential of the green hydrogen economy and Masdar’s dedication to accelerating investment in green hydrogen to drive the UAE’s economy diversification and support global clean energy transition efforts. The summit concluded with a demonstration of Net Zero Navigator, an AI-driven platform facilitating the development and scaling of technologies, innovations, and strategies to achieve net-zero emissions faster. Masdar’s green hydrogen business aims to emerge as a leading global producer by 2030, aligning with Abu Dhabi’s Low-Carbon Hydrogen Policy announced during COP28, in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy and ADIO, positioning the UAE as a global leader in hydrogen production.
