Work Detail US$198 million of road improvement works are planned in Casablanca, Morocco. Morocco’s key commercial city, Casablanca, will benefit from a major road project worth nearly US$198 million. The upgrade and maintenance work will be carried out along a 3km stretch of the RR320 expressway in the northern Dar Bouazza area of the city, a road that connects with United Nations Square. The expressway will be widened so that it features three lanes in either direction, boosting capacity. The work will help to reduce peak time congestion, a common issue in central Casablanca with its chronic congestion, improving journey times for drivers. Improvement works will be carried out at key junctions, including those for the South-West Ring Road, RP3003 and Sidi El Khadir links. New drainage and lighting will be installed as part of the work, helping to boost safety, particularly at night. The majority of the funding is being provided jointly by the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Equipment and Water and the Ministry of Land Planning. Some of the funding will also come from the Casablanca-Settat region, the Casablanca Prefectural Council, the Nouaceur Provincial Council, the Casablanca municipality, the Dar Bouazza municipality and the Oulad Azzouz municipality.
