Work Detail According to ABSOLAR, solar roofs on homes total around 13 GW and photovoltaic technology already supplies around 2.5 million homes in the country through the distribution of energy credits. Brazil has just reached the milestone of 2 million homes with solar energy on their roofs, which represents more than 70.3 billion reais in accumulated investments since 2012, according to a study by the Brazilian Photovoltaic Solar Energy Association (ABSOLAR). According to the ABSOLAR study, solar rooftops on houses add up to nearly 13 GW of installed power and are spread across more than 5,500 Brazilian municipalities. In total, self-generated solar energy has more than 28 GW of operational capacity in homes, businesses, industries, rural properties and public buildings in Brazil, supplying more than 3.5 million consumer units. According to the organization, the solar roofs of Brazilian homes supply more than 2.5 million units, with the energy credits generated by the solar systems shared with properties of the same property and in the same concession area of ??the local distributor. Of the total homes served by solar generation, the state of São Paulo leads the national ranking, with more than 385,300 homes served, followed by Rio Grande do Sul, with 303,100, and Minas Gerais, with 291,800. “Solar energy is democratic and accessible to all consumer profiles. To give an idea, according to market analyst estimates, in 2023 alone, solar panels will see a drop of around 50% in their final average price, making them more attractive and accessible to Brazilians. Therefore, this is the best time to invest in photovoltaic technology and take advantage of the savings on electricity bills and the other benefits of this clean, renewable and cheap source,” comments the president of the Board of Directors of ABSOLAR, Ronaldo Koloszuk. The general director of the association, Rodrigo Sauaia, recalls that the investment in solar systems pays off in an average of four to five years and that there are a hundred lines of financing available to help democratize access, among which are entities financial institutions, fintechs and credit cooperatives. “Thus, solar energy is currently one of the main and most accessible solutions for Brazilian consumers to achieve greater savings, autonomy, freedom and predictability,” he concludes.
