Work Detail EET Fuels has named Rob Wallace as the Chief Executive Officer of EET Hydrogen Power, a hydrogen-ready combined heat and power plant (CHP) slated for construction at the Stanlow refinery. With 25 years of experience in the Energy and Utilities Industry, including roles at Shell and Centrica, Rob Wallace joins EET Hydrogen Power from Irish electricity company ESB. In his previous role at ESB, Wallace oversaw asset commissioning and played a key role in advancing the company’s Net Zero 2040 strategy as Hydrogen Manager. As CEO of EET Hydrogen Power, Wallace will lead the construction and operation of the CHP plant, a pivotal component of EET’s broader vision to establish an energy transition hub in the North West. This hub will encompass the UK’s first low carbon process refinery and prominent low carbon hydrogen production hubs. EET Hydrogen Power’s CHP plant aims to significantly reduce emissions at Stanlow. Initially, it will cut carbon dioxide emissions by 13%, equivalent to 180,000 tonnes annually. Upon transitioning to EET Hydrogen, emissions will further decrease by 740,000 tonnes, akin to removing 350,000 cars from the road. This project aligns with EET Fuels’ decarbonisation goals, complementing previous initiatives such as the £45 million hydrogen-ready furnace under construction at Stanlow. Rob Wallace expressed enthusiasm for contributing to EET’s innovative decarbonisation efforts, underscoring the company’s leadership in the UK’s transition to a sustainable future. EET CEO Tony Fountain welcomed Wallace’s appointment, citing his expertise in hydrogen and power development as valuable assets for advancing EET’s ambitious decarbonisation agenda. Rob Wallace’s appointment as CEO of EET Hydrogen Power marks a significant milestone in EET Fuels’ journey towards decarbonisation. His wealth of experience and leadership will be instrumental in realizing EET’s vision of a sustainable energy future in the UK.
