Work Detail Madison Energy Infrastructure, a prominent clean infrastructure platform, has announced the acquisition of Sun Tribe Solar’s commercial assets, pipeline, and development team. This strategic move aims to enhance Madison’s mission of delivering operational value, certainty, and sustainability to organizations and communities nationwide. Sun Tribe Solar, based in Charlottesville, Virginia, has been a pioneer in the K-12 solar market in Virginia for the past seven years, facilitating the deployment of clean, affordable power to 94 schools across 21 counties. Madison, a long-time partner of Sun Tribe, has transacted with all five of Sun Tribe’s business units and served as the preferred asset owner partner for its commercial business. The acquisition, led by Rich Allevi, former president of Sun Tribe Solar, signifies a consolidation of efforts under Madison’s umbrella. Allevi will continue to lead the commercial development team, which will remain in Charlottesville. Ben Hunter, Chief Commercial Officer at Madison, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “This acquisition aligns perfectly with Madison’s growth trajectory and commitment to community collaboration. We believe that combining forces with the Sun Tribe team will yield significant impact in the U.S. solar schools space.” The transaction allows Sun Tribe to refocus its efforts on utility- and community-scale solar markets in the Appalachia, Mid-Atlantic, and Southeast regions through its businesses spanning the value chain: Sun Tribe Development, Sun Tribe EPC, and Sun Tribe Asset Management. Devin Welch, Chairman at Sun Tribe, emphasized the positive outcomes of the integration, stating, “This move enables Sun Tribe Solar’s expertise to reach new markets while strengthening our focus on utility- and community-scale projects. We are excited about the continued partnership with Madison.” Under Madison’s ownership, the Sun Tribe Solar team will expand its efforts to solarize schools across Madison’s 25-state footprint, integrating origination, project development, construction, and operation seamlessly. The Solar Empowered Schools program, focused on student education and curriculum enrichment, will continue under Madison’s stewardship. Allevi expressed pride in the team’s achievements over the years and the opportunity to expand their impact, stating, “Our work has saved school districts millions of dollars and provided valuable learning experiences for thousands of students. Bringing this work to new regions under Madison’s leadership is incredibly exciting.” The acquisition underscores Madison’s commitment to advancing clean energy solutions and empowering communities through sustainable initiatives.
