Work Detail Amprion Offshore GmbH has obtained planning approval for significant portions of the DolWin4 and BorWin4 land routes, as well as for BorWin4 in the exclusive economic zone. Civil engineering work on land will commence soon. Amprion is linking wind farms in North Sea Area 6 to the BorWin4 offshore grid connection system, overseen by the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH). The company must undergo a multi-stage approval process from the BSH and adhere to additional provisions outlined in the planning approval decisions during implementation. Construction is set to start on the land route, with approval received for sections from coast to Emden and Wietmarschen to Lingen. Amprion aims to begin civil engineering work in the first half of 2024. BorWin4, initially planned for operation in 2029, is now slated to be operational a year earlier, reflecting Amprions accelerated implementation plans announced in 2022. DolWin4 and BorWin4 are expected to be operational by 2028, replacing lost generation capacity from the Emsland nuclear power plant with 1.8 gigawatts of offshore wind energy.
