A US$1.35 billion transport funding boost for Seattle is being proposed.
A US$1.35 billion finance package has been proposed for the North Western US city of Seattle in Washington State. The transport levy would be an eight-year package, providing funding for road and lighting improvements as well as public transport upgrades and better facilities for vulnerable road users.
The improvements would be managed by the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT). Roads would be maintained and resurfaced, bridges repaired and new pedestrian facilities would be constructed. Light rail connections and bus facilities would also be improved.
A budget of $432 million would be directed to improving the city’s busiest routes, while $218 million would be spent on bridge repairs and $94 million would be used to upgrade Seattles Protected Bike Lane Network. |
