Work Detail Max Healthcare Institute will invest over Rs 5,000 crore to more than double its bed capacity to over 8,000 beds over four to five years, with half of the investment to be made in Uttar Pradesh. The plan includes setting up a new 500-bed hospital on a 5.6-acre of land located at Shaheed Path in Lucknow and augmentation of capacity of the acquired facility. The healthcare major expects to create over 10,000 jobs through its two facilities in the state. Last year, the company, had acquired Sahara Hospital in Lucknow for Rs 940 crore, and renamed it as Max Super Specialty Hospital, Lucknow. It is a 550-bed hospital, where the company is looking to expand by another 300-odd beds going forward. With this, Max Healthcare will be the largest private healthcare network in UP. The company is muling expansion in other states as well, apart from expansion achieved in Nagpur and Pune. At present, the company has 4,000 operational beds and is looking to add another 4,200 beds in the next four to five years. Max Healthcare will introduce cancer care and robotic surgical systems and strengthen the organ transplantation program at Max Super Speciality Hospital, Lucknow. It will bring in high-end tertiary and quaternary care to patients and make it a referral centre for patients from UP and Bihar.
