Work Detail In a significant move toward sustainable and renewable energy advancement, ACME Group, a global leader in the sector, has entered into a collaborative agreement with Hydrogenious LOHC Technologies, a German innovator specializing in Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carriers (LOHC). The partnership, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), is set to embark on a feasibility study aimed at developing extensive hydrogen supply chains. This initiative will leverage ACME’s renewable energy projects in Oman to establish supply hubs in Europe, employing Hydrogenious’ pioneering LOHC technology. The collaboration reflects both companies’ commitment to enhancing green hydrogen’s role in global energy systems and achieving decarbonization targets. Oman, known for its vast solar and onshore wind resources, alongside the US, buoyed by the Inflation Reduction Act’s production incentives, stands to offer competitive hydrogen production costs. The green hydrogen produced is intended for storage in LOHC and subsequent transportation to Europe via tanker, promising a sustainable supply to decarbonize various industrial sectors, including energy and mobility. Hydrogenious’ LOHC technology, which involves chemically binding hydrogen to benzyltoluene (LOHC-BT), offers a practical solution for large-scale hydrogen imports. This method allows for efficient storage and transportation at ambient conditions, utilizing existing liquid fuel infrastructure, and marks a significant advancement in making hydrogen a viable, cost-effective energy import for Europe. Ashwani Dudeja, Group President and Director for ACME Group, highlighted the project’s ambition to transform global energy systems and address industry and governmental decarbonization goals. By partnering with Hydrogenious and leveraging LOHC technology, ACME aims to provide a cost-effective value proposition for its customers. Toralf Pohl, Chief Commercial Officer at Hydrogenious LOHC Technologies, emphasized the shared vision of both companies to drive global decarbonization efforts. The collaboration is poised to facilitate the availability of clean hydrogen from the MENA region and the US to European off-takers, leveraging LOHC-BT’s safety, stability, and competitive storage density for effective, long-distance hydrogen supply chains.
