Work Detail US renewables developer-operator Leeward Renewable Energy has signed power purchase agreements (PPAs) with Microsoft Corp (NASDAQ:MSFT) associated with a pair of 200-MW solar projects it has set in Texas. Under the PPAs, the tech giant procured power from the Morrow Lake Solar project, located in Frio County, and Cradle Solar in Brazoria County, Leeward said on Wednesday. The development of Morrow Lake Solar began in 2017, initiated by Red River, a joint venture of SunChase Power and Eolian, Leeward added. The company expects the ongoing construction of the Morrow Lake Solar plant to wrap up in the fourth quarter of 2024. Construction of Cradle Solar is expected to start in the second quarter of 2024 and finalise by the fourth quarter of 2025. The two 200-MW solar farms will carry thin-film modules made by First Solar Inc (NASDAQ:FSLR). Over the past years, Leeward placed orders worth gigawatts with First Solar to secure batches of modules for its portfolio.
