Work Detail SPIE, the leading European provider of multi-technical services in energy and communications, has announced the signing of an agreement to acquire approximately 75% of MBG energy GmbH in Germany. MBG energy GmbH specializes in engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services for photovoltaic roll-out, primarily focusing on rooftop installations in North-Eastern Germany. Established in 2018 and headquartered in Berlin, the company boasts a workforce of 47 employees and reported a revenue of around 15 million euros in 2023. Through this acquisition, SPIE aims to bolster its presence in the rapidly expanding photovoltaic roll-out market, particularly in light of the impending implementation of the EU Solar Standard within the European Performance of Buildings Directive. This legislative framework will mandate solar installations on buildings across the European Union. Additionally, SPIE anticipates potential commercial synergies with its existing Technical Facility Management segment in Germany. The management team of MBG energy GmbH, consisting of its founders, will integrate into SPIE’s team to drive further business development. They will continue as minority shareholders, with SPIE acquiring approximately 75% of the company’s share capital. The agreement also includes put and call mechanisms pertaining to the remaining 25% shareholding. This strategic acquisition underscores SPIE’s commitment to expanding its portfolio and expertise in renewable energy solutions, positioning the company for continued growth in the evolving energy landscape.
