Work Detail In a significant move towards sustainable energy solutions, the Chilean subsidiary of Enel O’Higgins has announced the completion of a pioneering solar energy project for Geofrut, a prominent player in the region. The initiative, tailored for self-consumption, features 683 cutting-edge panels, each boasting 575 Wp, along with five high-capacity inverters delivering a nominal output power of 300 kW. Anticipated to generate a substantial 665 MWh annually, the project marks a significant stride towards reducing carbon footprint while ensuring reliable power supply for Geofrut’s operations. A pivotal aspect of the endeavor is the integration of a real-time, remote monitoring system, enhancing operational efficiency and enabling a 10.6% reduction in annual energy consumption, as highlighted in a recent statement. This milestone venture represents the fifth of six such agreements forged between Enel Pilares Verdes and the municipality of Las Cabras, further underscoring the commitment towards sustainable energy development in the region. Notably, the project operates under the stable ESCO (Energy Service Company) business model, a technical-financial framework facilitating the development of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy projects for self-consumption. Explaining the intricacies of the ESCO model, it was elucidated that the costs are offset through energy generated by the photovoltaic solar plant, paid in monthly installments. This comprehensive approach encompasses engineering, regulatory procedures, supplies, implementation, and commissioning of the photovoltaic generation system, seamlessly integrated into Geofrut’s existing electrical infrastructure. Furthermore, the agreement encompasses maintenance services throughout the contract term, ensuring sustained performance and longevity of the solar installation. This initiative not only underscores Enel O’Higgins’ commitment to sustainable energy but also reflects a broader industry trend towards embracing renewable solutions for a greener future. With its successful implementation, the project sets a promising precedent for similar ventures aimed at fostering environmental stewardship and energy independence.
