Work Detail Assembly and fit-out activity is taking place at the Smulders yard in Newcastle, UK The assembly and fit-out of the offshore substation platform and jacket foundation for the 1100MW Inch Cape offshore wind farm is underway. The work is occurring at the Smulders yard in Wallsend, Newcastle, UK. A consortium of Siemens Energy and Iemants, a Smulders subsidiary, is responsible for delivering the offshore substation for the Scottish project, located 15 kilometres off the Angus coast. Inch Cape is owned by Inch Cape Offshore Wind Limited, a joint venture by Red Rock Power and ESB. Engineering consultancy SLPE designed the offshore substation (OSS) substructure. Joseph Hilton, Managing Director of SLPE, said: “We are delighted to witness our hard work on this project for Inch Cape materialising. “Our OSS jacket design is set to withstand the harsh conditions of the North Sea, and we eagerly anticipate its completion and installation. “I am immensely proud of everyone at SLPE for their dedication and expertise.” Sam Lawes, Head of OSS Substructures at SLPE, added: “The Inch Cape substation project is a testament to our departments capability in delivering exceptional OSS substructure designs. “Our highly skilled team of engineers has drawn upon their extensive experience to design a structure that meets the most rigorous standards in the offshore wind industry”.
