Work Detail Hamburg-based renewable energy operator Encavis AG, listed on the MDAX of Deutsche Börse AG , has initiated a collaboration with BELECTRIC to construct a large-scale, high-performance solar farm in Borrentin, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, boasting a capacity of 114 MW and an annual power generation of 119 GWh. BELECTRIC, renowned for its expertise in the design, construction, and operation of solar power plants in Europe, will also oversee the Operation and Maintenance (O&M) in partnership with Stern Energy. “Partnering with BELECTRIC, we are embarking on Encavis AG’s most significant solar park project in Germany to date in Borrentin. Upon completion, our connected generation capacity in our domestic market will escalate to a total of 677 MW. We value the outstanding collaboration with BELECTRIC, propelling us closer to our ambition of reaching a 7 GW generation capacity in Europe by 2027,” remarked Mario Schirru, CIO/COO of Encavis, during the commencement of construction. The groundbreaking ceremony for this monumental project took place yesterday, attended by ENCAVIS, BELECTRIC, other project collaborators, Borrentin Mayor Peter Rabe, community representatives, and the press. “We are honored that ENCAVIS AG has selected us as their partner for constructing this remarkable large-scale project after years of successful cooperation. This underscores our strong presence in our home market of Germany,” stated Thorsten Blanke, Managing Director of BELECTRIC. Spanning an area equivalent to 135 football fields, approximately 200,000 modules will be installed, anticipated to provide green electricity for Allego, a leading Europe-wide electric vehicle charging network, commencing September 2024. Electricity supply to Allego is secured through a 10-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). The project originates from the development pipeline in collaboration with strategic development partner PV PEG. The Borrentin solar park will be situated on land with an average soil rating value of 27.26, characterized by relatively low agricultural yield, thus avoiding competition with agricultural use. The land plot’s soil quality, rated below 40, underscores its suitability for solar park development.
