. The Bicentennial Cultural Center of Santiago del Estero is the most important Cultural Complex in Northern Argentina. The three provincial Museums are located there: the Historical Museum “Dr. Orestes Di Lullo”, the “Duncan y Emilio Wagner” Museum of Anthropological and Natural Sciences and the “Ramón Gómez Cornet” Museum of Fine Arts. In addition to the Museums, the CCB has an auditorium hall for academic, musical, institutional activities, etc., a large exhibition hall for temporary exhibitions, workshop classrooms, an immense central hall with an ancient fountain and various spaces such as galleries, corridors in subsoils and patios of the original construction. Its building dates back to the 19th century; It was the old “Government House” or “Cabildo” as the headquarters of government administrations were called then and in 1987 it was declared a Provincial Historical Monument. Its restoration required an architectural intervention that meticulously respected its building structure and each of the pieces that attest to its historical value. A modern extension was added to the old building with state-of-the-art lighting, installations and technology. It was inaugurated on July 24, 2010, within the framework of a provincial cultural policy aimed at rescuing and valuing heritage, as a 10,000 m2 cultural space intended to bring together the different aspects of culture, bring the heritage message closer to the community and allow it to access the cultural assets of other latitudes, facilitating the acculturation processes.
