Work Detail Indonesia Boosts Rooftop Solar Adoption With New Regulations – Minister Of Energy And Mineral Resources Releases Guidelines In a strategic move to boost Rooftop Solar Power Plants (PLTS) implementation, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has issued Regulation Number 2 of 2024. This regulation, effective from January 31, 2024, aims to enhance and replace the previous regulation, focusing on the efficient deployment of Rooftop PLTS. Acting Director General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation, Jisman P Hutajulu, stated that despite the existing PLTS Rooftop regulations falling short of its optimal potential, the new regulation, a collaborative effort of various stakeholders, seeks to address these challenges and improve the current scenario. The regulation sets a target of 1 GW of rooftop PLTS connected to the PLN network and 0.5 GW from non-PLN sources annually. This ambitious plan aims to utilize Indonesia’s silica sand resources for the solar cell industry, encouraging growth in the solar module industry. Air Liquide and Vopak to Collaborate on Ammonia and Hydrogen Infrastructure in Singapore Air Liquide and Vopak have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on the establishment and operation of infrastructure for ammonia import, cracking, and hydrogen distribution in Singapore. Ammonia is recognized as a low-carbon fuel for power generation and maritime applications. It serves as an efficient carrier of hydrogen, facilitating its storage and transportation. With an established global supply chain and infrastructure for ammonia production, transportation, and utilization, the conversion of ammonia into hydrogen presents a promising avenue for industry and mobility decarbonization. The collaboration aims to explore and develop low-carbon ammonia supply chains in Singapore. This includes studying the potential development of ammonia cracking facilities, along with associated storage and handling infrastructure at Vopak’s Banyan terminal. This joint venture aims to construct and develop a large-scale integrated project comprising 50MW of solar capacity and 14MWh of battery energy storage system (the Project) in Nusantara, Indonesia. The joint venture, with PT Sembcorp Renewables Indonesia holding 49% and PT PLN Nusantara Renewables holding 51%, will supply power to state-owned utility provider PT PLN (Persero) through a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). The Project is expected to generate up to 93GWh of clean energy annually for Nusantara and the East Kalimantan province, which is equivalent to avoiding over 100,000 tonnes of carbon emissions per year or removing approximately 20,000 cars from the roads annually.
