Egypt has established a digital one-stop hub that lists and keeps track of all solar panels and related installations in the country.
The countrys Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy recently launched the Egypt PV-HUB Platform. The site is for consumers and solar installers.
It will be used by the ministry to address complaints and concerns raised by stakeholders and citizens regarding solar projects.
The site also contains an interactive map that pinpoints solar installations across Egypt and the number of implemented solar power stations (1,856) amongst other data.
The ministry will be able to use the information to generate reports and statistics about each solar-powered project across the country.
The site was developed in collaboration with the Egyptian Electric Utility and Consumer Protection Agency, the New and Renewable Energy Authority and the Industrial Modernisation Centre.
The platform was created to:
• Facilitate tasks for customers by operating the platform to provide electronic services and offering all necessary facilities to them across the country.
• Provide all data related to solar panel systems for citizens, enabling easy access to estimated installation costs, procedures, required documents for installation and connection to the electricity grid. And staying updated on the latest developments in the field.
• Enable installers of solar panel systems to track the issuance or renewal of qualification certificates for connection to the public grid.
• Monitor market developments and track installed capacities.
• Issue periodic reports.
