Work Detail In the Swabian Alps region, SENS (Iqony Solar Energy Solutions), a subsidiary of Iqony GmbH, advances its commitment to a future powered by 100% renewable energy. Situated in Küpfendorf within the municipality of Steinheim am Albuch, Heidenheim district, this Germany-based solar service provider has recently completed a new photovoltaic (PV) park with a capacity of 25 megawatts (MWp) for its client Vento Ludens, a renewable energy project developer. The PV park yields approximately 28,000 megawatt hours (MWh) of electricity annually, leading to a significant reduction of nearly 13,000 metric tonnes of CO2 emissions per year—an environmental impact equivalent to the annual carbon storage capacity of 1,000 hectares of forest. Navigating challenging terrain The project, initiated in March 2023, required the installation of 45,000 solar modules. Overcoming the rugged and rocky ground conditions presented a notable challenge. SENS tackled this obstacle by employing innovative methods, including drilling special holes for securely mounting the PV modules and anchoring the substructure. Christian Müller, the project manager for the Küpfendorf solar park at SENS, acknowledges the crucial role of the experienced on-site team, stating, “Without their innovative and solution-oriented approach, completing the project in under a year would not have been possible.” Additionally, the complexity of connecting the park to the power grid demanded a nine-kilometer cable route to efficiently distribute solar power to its intended destinations. Shared commitment to renewable energy SENS managed the EPC (engineering, procurement, construction) services, while Vento Ludens oversaw the development of the ground-mounted system. This collaborative effort exemplifies how shared objectives drive progress in the energy transition, with both parties dedicated to reducing CO2 emissions and fostering a future powered by 100% renewable energy. Vento Ludens, in particular, aims to achieve independence from fossil fuels and nuclear energy. Continued collaboration for sustainable growth Following the successful commissioning of the Küpfendorf solar park, SENS embarks on another project for Vento Ludens, constructing a 24.5 MWp PV project. This ongoing partnership underscores the commitment to sustainable energy development and reinforces the collective vision of a cleaner, greener future.
