Work Detail Canadian robotic construction firm nidus3D has completed North America’s first printed building higher than two storeys. The 420-sq-m concrete residential building near Toronto has 3.5 storeys with a steel-framed roof. It will have four apartments including two in the printed basement, which is considered a world-first for printed buildings. Tenants will move in this year. A finish of traditional brick helps it fit in with the neighbourhood. Founded in 2021, nidus3D printed its first two-storey house in 2022. For the latest project, the company used a construction printer made by Danish manufacturer, Cobod International. Its co-founder Philip Lund-Nielsen said the 3D printed basement “only amplifies the technology’s potential to transform construction”.
