Work Detail The Standing Linkage Committee (Long-Term) for the power sector, convened by the Coal Ministry, has greenlit an extension of bridge linkage for NUPPLs 1,980-MW Ghatampur thermal power plant (TPP) for one year on a tapering basis. This decision was reached during the recent meeting of the committee earlier this month. Last month, NUPPL had formally requested an allocation of 4.26 million tonnes of G10 bridge linkage coal for the fiscal year 2025. The company indicated that coal production from the Pachhwara South coal block is anticipated to commence in FY25, with peak rated capacity expected by FY28. The PSU highlighted that all three units of the Ghatampur TPP, each with a capacity of 660 MW, are slated to become operational in FY25. Additionally, NUPPL projected coal production from the Pachhwara South coal block at 1.6 million tonnes for FY25. In light of these projections, NUPPL advocated for the allocation of 4.26 million tonnes of G10 Bridge Linkage coal for FY25. The Power Ministry, NITI Aayog, and Coal India (CIL) all endorsed the extension of the bridge linkage for another year, with CIL assuring adequate fuel supply based on availability. Consequently, the Standing Linkage Committee (Long-Term) recommended the extension of the bridge linkage for NUPPLs Ghatampur TPP for one year on a tapering basis. The specifics regarding the rate and source of coal supplies under the extended bridge linkage will be determined by CIL. Its noteworthy that for the fiscal year 2024, the Standing Linkage Committee (Long-Term) had previously recommended a similar extension of the bridge linkage for the Ghatampur TPP, which is valid until March 31, 2024.
