PNN 61579
Work Detail The latest addition to Saudi Arabia’s spectacular Neom programme has been announced: a resort for well-heeled golfers set amidst the coastal hills of the Gulf of Aqaba. The Gidori scheme will bring together luxury accommodation and a range of sport and leisure pursuits. The design – by Ignacio Gomez and Lama Al Kharboush of US architect Aedas – includes an 80-room hotel with swimming pools and theatre, and “the Monolith”, a beach club surrounded by 200 vacation villas and full-time homes. Neom aims to respect the environment, so the dwellings will be embedded in the landscape. The Monolith will have a spectacular cantilevered structure, but aims to resemble an outcropping of the region’s granite base. It will house 190 apartments complete with restaurants, shops and gardens. The resort will have an 18-hole championship golf course with clubhouse and academy for those still working on their handicaps. There will also be trails for hiking, cycling and scenic walks during the daytime, and star-gazing platforms for evenings Gidori is the latest in a string of resorts that will be built in Saudi Arabia’s northwestern Tabuk province. Those already announced include Leyja, Epicon, Siranna, Utamo, Norlana, Aquellum, Zardun, Xaynor and Elanan.
