Work Detail Spanish solar tracker provider PV Hardware (PVH) has successfully assembled panels for a 130MWp solar project in Turkey. Developed in collaboration with Turkish energy company Inojen, the YEKA-4 solar project is part of the Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources’ YEKA initiative, launched last year to promote large power generation plants based on sustainable energy sources. Project status and timeline PVH, expecting the project to be operational before 2024, highlighted its significant role in the Turkish solar tracker manufacturing and distribution market, controlling approximately 90%. Alvaro Casado, the global commercial director of PVH, emphasized the vital partnership between PVH and Inojen, considering it a model for strategic collaboration that could be replicated in other regions to achieve similar growth. In October, Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar stated that Turkey aims to install 5GW of solar and wind capacity annually until 2035. Rystad Energy analyst Nishant Kumar expressed the view that while the goal is ambitious by 2027, it is achievable in the medium and long term, post-2027 and post-2032, respectively. However, challenges such as the availability of necessary infrastructure need to be addressed for the successful addition of such large-scale solar capacity. Similar projects by PVH Before the Turkish project, PVH had secured a 230MW PV tracker supply deal for a project in Egypt in October. Additionally, the company announced plans to complete a 6GW tracker manufacturing facility in Texas by October 2023. In a recent announcement, PVH confirmed the completion of panel assembly for a 130MWp solar farm in Turkey. The solar park, known as Nigde Bor Solar and located in Nigde, central Turkey, is part of the fourth round of Turkey’s Renewable Energy Resources Zone tender program (YEKA). The project is aligned with Turkey’s goal to achieve 10GW of operational solar power by 2027. The YEKA-4 solar project, developed in collaboration with renewables company Ecogreen Energy, is expected to achieve full capacity before 2024. General Electric, a US industrial conglomerate, is also involved in the project’s development, providing its Flexinverter Solar Power Station. The successful completion of the YEKA-4 solar project marks another milestone for PVH in its commitment to advancing solar energy initiatives on a global scale.
