Work Detail Developer Ocean Winds said the next step is energising the project’s first circuit Nexans has completed the offshore export cable pull-ins for both offshore substation platforms (OSPs) at Ocean Winds’ 882MW Moray West wind farm in Scotland. The group’s cable laying vessel Nexans Aurora utilised a window of recent good weather to perform the work. The cable pull-in marks a key milestone for the project, with OSP commissioning teams currently working on cable terminations. An Ocean Winds social media post said that the next steps for the project will be the energisation of the first circuit. The OSPs were installed in February this year, with Harlyn Solutions transporting them from the Tyne of Newcastle to the Port of Nigg in Scotland. The project will use a total of 60 Siemens Gamesa 14MW turbines, mounted on XXL monopiles. More than half the power from the project will go to Amazon under a corporate power purchase agreement.
