Work Detail The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and the Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Econômico e Social (BNDES) have formalized their collaboration by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This agreement aims to strengthen cooperation in financing sustainable development projects and promoting regional cooperation. AIIB’s Vice President for Investment Operations (Region 2), Konstantin Limitovskiy, and BNDES’s Managing Director, Natalia Dias, were the signatories to the MOU. Under this agreement, AIIB and BNDES will explore opportunities for co-financing and co-investment in various projects and programs related to infrastructure, trade, connectivity with Asia, climate, and other mutually beneficial areas. Additionally, both institutions will collaborate on project origination, resource mobilization, and knowledge exchange pertaining to strategies and policies aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals. AIIB’s Vice President Limitovskiy expressed enthusiasm about formalizing the partnership with BNDES, emphasizing its importance in driving sustainable development and economic growth across Asia, Latin America, and beyond. He highlighted the potential of leveraging combined expertise and resources to address infrastructure challenges and promote economic progress. BNDES President Aloizio Mercadante emphasized Brazil’s position as a leader in clean electricity among G20 nations and stressed the importance of transforming this advantage into attracting new investments and enhancing value across industrial and productive chains. He underscored the partnership with AIIB as crucial for knowledge exchange, expanding opportunities, and fostering a greener economy. BNDES’s Managing Director Natalia Dias considered the MOU as a significant milestone in their international funding strategy, facilitating collaboration with a prominent global financial institution like AIIB to jointly leverage resources for sustainable development initiatives in Brazil and Asia.
