The Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) is set to boost India’s renewable energy sector with the announcement of two major solar projects in the regions of Ladakh and Jammu & Kashmir.
In a move to enhance Ladakh’s energy sustainability, SECI plans to issue a tender for a 12 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) project in Phey, aiming to meet the region’s energy needs through renewable sources. SECI will oversee the project as the Project Management Consultant (PMC), encompassing design, engineering, supply, construction, erection, testing, and commissioning of the solar facility.
Additionally, SECI has revealed plans for a 5 MW(AC) grid-connected Agro-Solar PV Power Plant in Pampore, Pulwama, tailored to support saffron cultivation. This innovative initiative seeks to merge agricultural practices with solar energy, benefiting the local saffron farming community. The project will be owned by the Jammu & Kashmir State Power Development Corporation Limited and includes a comprehensive scope of work from design to operation and maintenance for a decade.
