The Dutch public works directorate and the ministry of infrastructure and water management have selected a trio of engineers – Arup, Iv and Wagemaker – to assess the structural integrity of 100 bridges across the Netherlands over the next six years.
The work will be split, with Arup focusing on steel structures, Iv on moveable bridges and Wagemaker advising on concrete projects and structural safety.
Infrastructure will be tested to see if it can manage increased transport loads and if it is in need of maintenance or regeneration.
Projects will be judged on sustainability, efficiency and long-term functionality.
The team will conduct the assessments by 2030. |
