Work Detail Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate and lay the foundation for a series of projects by NTPC on March 4th, 2024, marking a substantial stride towards sustainable development and economic progress. One of the key highlights will be the dedication of Unit #2 (800 MW) of NTPC’s Telangana Super Thermal Power Project (Stage-I) in Peddapalli district, Telangana. This project, with an investment of Rs 8,007 Crore, employs Ultra-Supercritical Technology, ensuring efficient power generation while reducing CO2 emissions. Its commissioning will bolster power supply in Telangana and ensure 24×7 access to affordable, high-quality electricity nationwide. Additionally, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate Unit-2 (660 MW) of North Karanpura Super Thermal Power Project (3×600 MW) in Jharkhand. With an investment of Rs 4,609 Crore, this project stands out as India’s first Supercritical Thermal Power Project equipped with Air Cooled Condenser technology, significantly cutting down on water consumption. The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for Singrauli Super Thermal Power Project, Stage-III (2X800 MW) in Sonebhadra, UP. With a total investment of Rs 17,000 Crore, this project showcases India’s commitment to environmental sustainability and technological innovation. Furthermore, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate the Fly Ash Based Lightweight Aggregate Plant at Sipat Super Thermal Power Station in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, with an investment of Rs 51 Crore. This plant utilizes fly ash to produce aggregates, promoting bulk fly ash utilization and environmental protection. The Prime Minister will also dedicate the STP Water to Green Hydrogen Plant at NTPC NETRA Campus, Greater Noida, with an investment of Rs 10 Crore, aimed at reducing power consumption. Additionally, he will lay the foundation stone for the Flue gas CO2 to 4G Ethanol Plant at Lara Super Thermal Power Station in Chhattisgarh. With an investment of Rs 294 Crore, this plant will convert CO2 from waste flue gas into 4G-Ethanol, advancing towards Sustainable Aviation Fuel. Moreover, the Foundation Stone for the Sea Water to Green Hydrogen Plant at NTPC Simhadri, with an investment of Rs 30 Crore, will be laid by the Prime Minister. This project aims to produce Green Hydrogen from seawater, saving energy in the process. Lastly, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the Fly Ash Based FALG Aggregate Plant at Korba Super Thermal Power Station, Chhattisgarh, with an investment of Rs 22 Crore, emphasizing the conversion of Fly Ash into value-added ‘Building Material – coarse aggregates, contributing to environmental protection. These NTPC projects, with a total investment of Rs 30,023 Crore, not only enhance India’s power infrastructure but also foster job creation, community development, and environmental conservation, marking a significant milestone in India’s journey towards a greener and more sustainable future.
