Work Detail Following the digitisation of its technical operations, the Electricity Company of Ghana (EGG) has a clearer idea of how many households are actually paying for the power they consume and, as such, the utility is targeting power thieves. The digitisation exercise is also intended to enhance service delivery, ensure revenue generation and curb the companys commercial losses. Since the ECGs efforts began in 2023, the exercise has been scaled up and will see members of the ECG task force visit each installation across Ghana (both pre- and postpaid) to assess the ECG meters and assess their integrity thoroughly. Once the installation is checked, the dashboard captures and indicates its status, leaving no room for manipulation, even by any member of the task force who may fall to any coercion by customers. The Director of Communication at the ECG, William Boateng, said: "The digital dashboard has given us a better picture of the number of households using power served by the ECG and how many people are paying for the power they consume. "This latest exercise, which will be undertaken all year long, would help us identify those who are using other means to use power fraudulently, those who are under-paying for the power consumed and all other issues resulting in energy theft and commercial losses to the company," he stressed.
